Meet Our Teachers
Did you know that our STEM Coordinator and Literacy Coach are 100% funded by the Oak Grove Foundation?
This would not be possible without parent and community donations.

Ms. Xides is OGE's STEM learning coordinator and garden teacher. She leads students in every grade at OGE in special STEM projects. Recent examples include: Kindergarteners have been promoting bat conservation. 1st grade citizen scientists learned about tulips, life cycles, seasons, weather instruments, predictions, graphing, and scientific drawing while planting red emperor tulips. 3rd graders learned about decomposers while exploring compost critters and learned what goes in a compost pile and how to build one. 4th graders took a journey through the water cycle, recording their journey using beads on a bracelet. Rolling dice, they would either move to another location or stay in the same location. Some were stuck in the ocean and glaciers for a few million years!

Ms. Welch is OGE's literacy coach. Each year she tests every child from kindergarten to second grade on their reading ability. She works with children who would benefit from individual tutoring. With kindergarteners, she uses multisensory/tactile methods to work on alphabetic principles. They sing their letters, write them, make them in sand, and even shaving cream! In 1st grade, she works with students on letter sounds, digraphs, and the pre-primer Dolch list. In 2nd grade, she works with students on reading fluency, sight word gaps, unphonetic sight words, Orton Gillingham decoding, and spelling strategies. She also provides individual progress graphs monthly to share with teachers and parents.
