Dear Oak Grove Community,
Oak Grove Elementary holds a special place in our hearts. Please Show Your Love for our school this February by giving to the Oak Grove Foundation’s Annual Campaign. The campaign kicked off February 1st with our Art Night and runs through March 1st. 100% of your donation goes directly to Oak Grove Elementary. Last year’s campaign raised $67,000! We can exceed this amount this year with your support!
What is the Oak Grove Foundation?
The Oak Grove Foundation is a non-profit 501c3 that supports the quality of education at our school through strategic investments in personnel, technology, teachers and materials. Please see the enclosed Annual Report for a complete list of our numerous investments in Oak Grove Elementary.
Why does Oak Grove Elementary need a Foundation?
The Oak Grove community values a first rate public education. Enriching and elevating the educational experience at Oak Grove has costs that are not covered by DeKalb County.
How will the Foundation use my donation in 2014?
We plan to continue funding the Literacy Coach, Big Idea Grants for Teachers, and our Higher Opportunities for Teachers fund (HOT) and more. In 2014, OGE is pursuing STEM certification. The Foundation will support this effort through funding a part-time STEM coordinator and grade-level EIE (Engineering Is Elementary) kits.
What is STEM?
Schools with a strong emphasis on STEM education integrate Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics into the entire curriculum. Why? Occupations in STEM-related careers are some of the fastest growing and best paid of the 21st century, and they often have the greatest potential for job growth. Other schools in our educational community have or are pursuing STEM certification including Henderson Middle School. This certification would also make OGE eligible and more attractive for STEM grants.
Donors to our Show Your Love campaign will be recognized in our Annual Report and with incentives. Any funds matched by your employer will count towards your final donation amount.
You may donate online with a credit card above or use the donation card and envelope sent home with your campaign packet. Please send your donation through your child's teacher or drop it off at the front office. Thank you in advance for your support and commitment to Oak Grove Elementary.
