The Oak Grove Foundation provides supplemental funding to
Educate our children
Enrich their academic lives
Help them Excel in school
How will the Foundation use my donation in 2014-2015?
We plan to continue funding the Literacy Coach, Big Idea Grants for Teachers, and our Higher Opportunities for Teachers fund (HOT) and more. In 2014-2015, OGE is pursuing STEM certification. The Foundation will support this effort through funding a part-time STEM coordinator and grade-level EIE (Engineering Is Elementary) kits.
What is STEM?
Schools with a strong emphasis on STEM education integrate Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics into the entire curriculum. Why? Occupations in STEM-related careers are some of the fastest growing and best paid of the 21st century, and they often have the greatest potential for job growth. Other schools in our educational community have or are pursuing STEM certification including Henderson Middle School. This certification would also make OGE eligible and more attractive for STEM grants.
Oak Grove is incorporating STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) components into the curriculum in order to educate the whole child. Integrating STEM learning will complement the current initiatives in place for reading and writing. STEM will add to these elements and help Oak Grove maintain our level of excellence.
Donors to our Show Your Love campaign will be recognized in our Annual Report and with incentives. Any funds matched by your employer will count towards your final donation amount.
